Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced on Monday that the ‘Viksit Delhi’ Budget for 2025-26 will be presented in the Assembly between March 24 and 26, with a focus on incorporating suggestions from every section of society.
Addressing a press conference in the national capital, CM Gupta emphasized that the budget would prioritize the comprehensive development of Delhi by ensuring that the voices of all communities are heard and reflected in policymaking.
“The Viksit Delhi Budget 2025-26 will be a collaborative effort. Our government is committed to taking all sections of society along in shaping Delhi’s development, and we will incorporate their suggestions into the budget,” Gupta stated.
The chief minister highlighted key issues that would form the core of the budget, including financial assistance for women, expansion of health services, promotion of public transport, pollution reduction, Yamuna cleaning, employment generation, and welfare of senior citizens.
To enhance public participation, Gupta announced the launch of an official email ([email protected]) and a WhatsApp number (999962025) for citizens to submit their recommendations directly.
“We have instructed officials from all departments to include suggestions from stakeholders and increase public engagement. This initiative will help us prepare a budget that genuinely addresses the priorities and aspirations of Delhi’s people,” Gupta added.
The government has also scheduled a series of consultations with various community groups. Women’s organizations have been invited to share their suggestions on March 5, while representatives from the education sector will meet the same evening. Business and industrial organizations will present their views on March 6. Gupta assured that similar engagements with other key stakeholders would follow to ensure broad-based input.
In addition to the budget discussions, CM Gupta announced that the Assembly would discuss the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report on health services, aiming to expose alleged irregularities and scams of the previous Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government.
“Today in the House, we will debate the CAG report on health, which will lay bare the numerous scams of the AAP government. The people of Delhi now see how AAP misled them, claiming honesty while crossing every boundary of dishonesty,” Gupta asserted.
The upcoming budget is expected to reflect the collective vision of Delhi’s citizens, addressing their needs and driving the city’s growth toward a more developed and equitable future.
